What’s the best way to lift heavy, awkward materials?
Make the new guy do it 🤣

I can’t tell you how many times I hear this when we have our hands on portion of our movement training course and it’s always good for a laugh. *credit to Allen Woffard for finding this!

Occasionally, it’s a smart choice. Especially if the new guy isn’t dealing with a grumpy back or knee.

On the other hand, consistently performing work lifts with wicked awesome form keeps the body resilient. You don’t want to all of the sudden have to lift and move something you haven’t lifted in a long time.

The new guys may be able to handle higher frequencies of physical tasks but this is where USE IT OR LOOSE IT comes in regards to muscle memory and strength.

I like to teach to treat material handling like a workout. Lift with awesome form but know your limits regarding body aches, fatigue, or safety.

If you know you’re close to your limit, make sure you know your best options and recovery tools before your body gives you the big 🖕.
