Pursuing Goals When Others Don't Believe in You

It can be difficult to continue pursuing your goals when others do not believe in you, but it is important to remember that YOU are the only one who can control your own actions and determine your own success. TCU has been underestimated this whole football season.  With every win, there were many expecting them to lose the next one.

Having a son as a freshman on the team gave us an inside look at the culture they created and  nurtured beginning all the way back in the spring when Coach Dykes came on staff.  They always believed in their success. They had a positive attitude, they worked hard, and never gave up.

Here are a few tips to help you succeed in the new year:

1. Focus on your own abilities and strengths rather than dwelling on what others may or may not think of you.  "Do your job" as Sonny would say, both at work and at home.

2. Practice regularly to improve your skills and stay sharp. This works both physically AND mentally.

3. Stay positive and motivated, even when things are not going well. 

4. Surround yourself with supportive people who encourage and believe in you when possible. If it feels like no one believes, turn to GOD. Find your faith. He is always there shining a light on your path.

5. Believe in yourself and your abilities. Remember, if you don't believe in yourself, it will be difficult for others to believe in you as well.

Achieving success in football (or any other pursuit) takes time, dedication, and hard work. Don't let the lack of support from others discourage you. Keep working towards your goals and believe in yourself, and you will eventually find success.

I can't explain the experience of being at the game.  You could tell the win felt that much better because so many were routing against them. We are so proud of all the players and coaches.
